An absurdly funny hit from West End

Wednesday, December 03, 2008, 13:49

The Christmas party gets into full swing as Alan Ayckbourn's smash-hit festive comedy Absurd Person Singular visits the Theatre Royal Bath next week with an all star cast.

Among the line up for this revival of last Christmas's huge West End hit you will see Sara Crowe, Matthew Cottle, Honeysuckle, Weeks, Marc Bannerman, Deborah Grand and David Griffin.

In the play three couples take it in turns to entertain each other at pre-Christmas drinks.

As with most parties, the main event takes place in the kitchen while the party rampages in the next room.

The first bash is at the Hopcrofts where havoc ensues as they attempt to impress their high-powered friends – but that's nothing compared to what happens over the next two years when the friends return their hospitality!

Sara Crowe plays the role of Jane. A favourite with Bath audiences, last year she visited the Theatre Royal in Acorn Antiques – the Musical and Donkey's Years.

Her first appearance on the Bath stage was in Private Lives in 1990 alongside Joan Collins where she upstaged the star of the show. Sara received an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Private Lives and an Olivier nomination for Best Comedy Performance in Hayfever.

Tickets cost £14 to £30 but are in short supply. Call the box office on 01225 448844, www.theatreroyal.org.uk
