Festival's fabulous finale

Although there are now only three days of events left in this year's Bath Mozartfest there are performances by internationally acclaimed musicians still to hear.

If you are around at lunchtime today the Doric String Quartet is playing at the Guildhall at 1pm along with clarinetist Chen Halevi. They will be playing a Beethoven string quartet and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A Major.

Then this evening pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard now the artistic director of the Aldeburgh Festival can be heard at the Assembly Rooms. He comes to Bath with a delectable programme of sonatas written by Mozart in his late teens and Beethoven in his late twenties as well as Ravel's impressionistic suite Miroirs and two Chopin favourites.

Tomorrow night you can hear the Florestan Trio with soprano Joan Rodgers playing and singing works by Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms at the Assembly Rooms.

Then the players are on their own at the Guildhall on Saturday morning at 11am with works by Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn.

The last concert of this year's festival is on Saturday at the Forum.

This is a spectacular event which was to have been conducted by one time Bath resident Richard Hickox but he died at the end of last year.

Sir Roger Norrington agreed to take his place in an event that is also a tribute to Richard.

It is an all Mozart evening with the City of London Sinfonia and with the Concerto in C Major for Flute and Harp with Philippa Davies and Lucy Wakeford and the Requiem with Bath Camerata.
