Bath on Ice director Simon Smith said: "We are absolutely delighted to offer people the chance to enjoy open-air skating on a real ice rink in the centre of Bath.

"With a location right below the Royal Crescent and magical lighting adding to this unique experience, we hope we can create an event that Bath can be proud of. It is the perfect Christmas activity and will really get you in the mood for the festive season."

The rink will be open every day, from 10am to 9pm, until Sunday, January 6.

The attraction includes an indoor skate changing area, and indoor and outdoor viewing areas.

There will also be refreshments, including hot chocolate and melted marshmallows, roasted chestnuts, and other hot treats.

Group bookings, Christmas parties and student discounts are also available.

Young children will have the use of penguin skate aids, and ice stewards will be manning the rink at all times.

Children up to the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and tiny tot sessions will run at the start of weekday mornings in the build-up to the Christmas holidays.

Prices for a family of four are £26 an hour in less busy, off-peak times, or £32 at peak periods, such as from December 15 onwards.
