Will we too ship destitute out from the city?
It's time for the Tories and Lib Dems to face facts, the coalition government has been an absolute disaster from start to finish.
I could almost feel sorry for the local politicians were it not for the fact they are as culpable as their leadership of foisting unprecedented cuts, NHS privatisation and the misery of poverty and homelessness upon increasing thousands of us from B&NES to Barrow and beyond.
Here in B&NES we have a core strategy that doesn't meet housing requirements and the inevitable nimby moans of the councillors in the wards that are now 'threatened' with the 'simply awful' prospect of new homes for those who need them, all because both successive Lib Dem and Tory administrations attempted to push all development far from the doorsteps of their own wards, thus making the Strategy unsound.
How long before we follow the lead of London councils in relocating our low paid families, the destitute and vulnerable off to become some other council's problem with nothing but a night's B&B ticket in their hands?

Three Tory councillors jumped ship for pastures Independent in the space of a year, and surprisingly not a single Lib Dem with enough principles to leave their deeply divisive and damaging party behind.
This despite the party flying in the face of the claims of ensuring a society of "equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty" as their Liberal spiel would have you believe.
Meanwhile the Labour Party ranks are swelled with the disillusioned or just plain furious ex members of both parties.
So when next a Lib Dem or Tory claims detachment from the cuts already being made and about to get a whole heap worse in your local council, ask them why they're still members of that Party.

“Of course we will, the poor have no part in the Coalition Wonderland, they are just Defecit Reduction Fodder.”
