UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING 3D Prior to starring alongside Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in the big-budget remake of Total Recall, Kate Beckinsale squeezes back into her skin-tight leathers as an avenging vampire. The fourth chapter in the franchise, which began in 2003, is set more than a decade after the events of the third film Underworld: Evolution.
THE SITTER (15) A badly behaved college student discovers that babysitting isn't the breeze he thought it would be in this foul-mouthed comedy from director David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Your Highness). Following his suspension, Noah (Jonah Hill) lives with his mother at home, where he struggles to find purpose in his life.
CORIOLANUS (15) Ralph Fiennes directs and takes the title role in this adaptation of Shakespeare's brutal tragedy from a script by John Logan. While Cominius (John Kani), the proud General of the Roman army, leads his troops into battle against Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler), commander of the rival Volscian army, Cominius's feared deputy, Martius (Fiennes), spearheads an assault on one of the Volscian strongholds. Eventually, the enemy capitulates and Martius and his men celebrate by joining Cominius in battle against the remainder of the enemy.
X: NIGHT OF VENGEANCE (18) Director Jon Hewitt and co-writer Belinda McClory explore the seedy side of life in Sydney's King's Cross district in this erotically charged, low-budget thriller. High-class call girl Holly (Viva Bianca) is preparing to give up her trade to realise her dream on the boulevards of Paris.
L'ATALANTE (PG) A re-release of Jean Vigo's 1934 classic. A village girl called Juliette (Dita Parlo) falls in love with a young barge captain called Jean (Jean Daste) and they are soon married, sailing off for a life together aboard his barge, along with shipmate Jules (Michel Simon) and six cats. The blushing bride makes the best of her situation, dutifully tending to her husband's needs, but when the craft stops off in Paris, she cannot resist secretly visiting the city of her dreams. When she returns the barge has departed without her.
THE NINE MUSES (PG) Bookmarked into nine chapters, each representing one of the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, John Akomfrah's poetic meditation on life in Britain between the end of the Second World War and the present day uses archive footage, readings and music to distil the experiences of migrants who came to this country.
