This week The Guide has teamed up with Bath's Odeon Cinema and Twentieth Century Fox to offer readers the chance of attending a free screening of one of the most talked about films of the past year.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel starring Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Celia Imrie is due to open next Friday, February 24.

But you have the chance to watch a free screening of the film the day before it goes on general release at a special performance next Thursday, February 23 at the Bath Odeon at 6.30pm.

All you have to do is turn up for the film which will be shown in the 50-seat Screen 2 cinema. The first 50 people in the queue will be able to watch the film completely free of charge.

The film is adapted from Deborah Moggach's novel These Foolish Things in which a group of retirees are lured to live out their days in a recently-restored Indian palace hotel. This turns out to be the incomplete and decrepit Marigold Hotel, whose naive young owner (Dev Patel) has run out of cash.

Though set in Bangalore, the John Madden-directed film was in fact shot in Udaipur and, predominantly, Jaipur. The all-star cast which includes some of Britain's best-loved actors including Maggie Smith from the popular TV series Downton Abbey. On arrival at the Marigold, the guests discover that the hotel falls well short of the romantic idyll promised in the brochure, but they are gradually won over by the ever-optimistic young manager Sonny and tentatively embark on a new adventure, finding that life can begin again when you let go of the past.

Chronicle terms and conditions apply. Entry is with a copy of the Chronicle only.
