Take pleasure in a seasonal table
Arranging details for the food and drink at your wedding is an important task. Not only will it add to the overall style of your day, but it's also worth remembering that your guests will be getting hungry by the time you sit down to eat, so a good meal is always remembered and appreciated.
Many venues arrange the food and drink as part of the wedding package, but you'll still have a choice of courses and wines. However if you've chosen a venue which allows outside caterers or have decided to have a marquee in your family's garden then you will have much more choice; from sit down banquets to hog roasts, pizza to Chinese; today anything is acceptable as long as it is prepared well.
If you want to tie your menu in with the autumnal theme then why not try butternut squash soup, for starters, a hearty meat dish such as roast chicken for dinner and tarts and sweet pies for dessert.
If you've decided to hire a company to supply drinks for your big day, remember to offer an array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices to cater for all your guests.

When choosing your wedding cake, there are a huge number of options that come in all shapes and sizes. Traditionally wedding cakes were three tiered and covered with royal icing. Nowadays, there are hundreds of cakes that you can choose from and many couples decide to get their cakes customised to their own unique design.
Because wedding cakes are usually heavily decorated in icing, there are countless designs to choose from, but for those wanting a more personal touch there are plenty of cake makers who can create unique designs to suit your tastes. From miniature sculptures to small handmade cake toppers, there are plenty of ways to make your wedding cake extra special.
Once your guest list has been finalised, you will need to find out if anyone has any specific dietary requirements. If they do you will need to consider this when giving your cake maker the criteria for your cake.
One way around this problem is to use the traditional three tier cake and make each tier a different cake, separated by supporting pillars.
The first layer will be the largest so make sure that this is a standard cake which will be eaten by the majority of the congregation e.g. a sponge or fruit cake. The second layer will be smaller, so if there are a number of guests with nut allergies then make this a nut-free layer and the top layer can either be an additional normal layer or a vegan one, depending on the requirements of your guests.
A good cake maker will be able to offer you specialist advice and discuss how big your cake will need to be based on the size of your guest list so speak to as many as possible before making your choice.
