Comedian Ricky Gervais has just spent the "perfect Sunday" in Bath, he told readers of his blog.

The Office star stayed in his "favourite" Royal Crescent Hotel, visited the Bath Christmas Market and enjoyed Handel's Messiah by candlelight at the Theatre Royal.

Ricky was in Bath on Sunday and woke to the sound of his partner Jane Fallon saying "your scrambled eggs will get cold".

He went on to tell his followers: "Eggs, toast, coffee and orange juice with the sun flooding in through the south facing windows of the Percy Blakeney Suite of The Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath."

Ricky spent the day in his favourite city in England browsing the Christmas Market, popped into the Fashion Museum and tucked into fish and chips before settling down to a "magical" Messiah at the Theatre Royal.

He even found time to watch the movie It's A Wonderful Life when he returned to his hotel and finished his blog by saying: "The greatest Christmas movie of all time. No I don't believe in angels either but kindness trumps religion any day. Even Sunday. Especially the best Sunday ever."
