Would-be robber punches bus passenger

The incident happened on a bus in Twerton on Sunday.
The victim had got on a FirstBus number five service at Brougham Hayes and travelled to Twerton.
At around 7.25pm the bus stopped at Poolemead Road and the offender, who was also a passenger, tried to steal a brown Icon bag from the victim.
The owner clung on to his bag and the mugger punched him in the head in an attempt to make him let go.
But the victim was able to grab his bag back again and the offender left the bus empty-handed with another passenger.
He was last seen running off up nearby steps.
The offender is described as a white man, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and had short dark hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top.
There were five other passengers on the bus at the time of the incident who may have witnessed the assault or know the identity of the offender. Anyone with information which could help the investigation should contact Detective Constable Liz Stallabrass at Bath CID on 0845 456 7000.
