Richard Angell was the city's film commissioner for three years until he left the job in 1999.
The 47-year-old had been involved in setting up the Bath Film Office, which liaises with film and TV companies wanting to shoot scenes in the city, in 1993.
He was involved in bringing many big name productions to Bath, including the period drama Persuasion, the film The Hollow Reed, and an episode of TV detective series Inspector Morse.
He was taken ill whilst walking the Inca Trail in Peru and had to be flown back to Britain after five weeks of intensive care.
After three more months of treatment, Mr Angell's condition worsened and he suffered multiple organ failure, dying last month.
A tribute group on the social networking site Facebook has now been set up in his memory.
It says: "True to form, Rich was strong to the end and - having been given hours to live - he held on for four days and even managed a smile at the last.
"Rich touched the lives of so many people and left memories wherever he went. "He will never be forgotten and will always be loved by those who knew him."
Mr Angell, who lived at Banwell, had recently graduated from the University of the West of England in media practice and specialised in scritpwriting and digital videography.
His funeral took place at Weston-super-Mare last week.

To be honest I think we all need to support this scheme. Yes some people are losing bits of garden but stopping this scheme will make the city's problems much worse.
