Actor Anthony Head will be co-presenting BBC West's Children in Need night of live broadcasts.

The actor, best known for his role of Giles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, will join Points West presenter Alex Lovell for the programme tomorrow.

Head, who lives near Timsbury, said: "When I was first approached to appear on Children in Need my first instinct was to say no as the thought of live television terrifies me.

"But how could I not take part when countless people across the United Kingdom are raising money doing extraordinary things for such a worthwhile cause?

"I am honoured to have been invited and am looking forward to working with the lovely Alex Lovell as I have always had a great time when she has interviewed me on her BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset weekend show."

Children in Need West and Points West editor Stephanie Marshall said: "It's fantastic news that Anthony has agreed to join us and to co-present with Alex this year's Children in Need for our region.

"We can promise visitors to BBC Bristol and viewers at home a night of fun and fundraising, an insight into where last year's money went and, as always, a few surprises."

Bath resident Charlie McDonnell has also been showcasing his musical side to raise money for the charity.

Joined by three others, the 18-year-old from Combe Down has formed Charjackers, a band that had 12 weeks to produce a number one hit single using only the internet.

Their song I've Got Nothing is available to be downloaded from iTunes and all proceeds will go to Children in Need.

Last year the appeal raised more than £38 million nationally and provided support to thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under.

Meanwhile, a music and singing workshop for babies and toddlers in Bath has raised around £800 for Children in Need.

The Jo Jingles club held a Boogie Bugs' Ball to support the good cause and allow the children to have fun at the same time.

Around 150 people turned out for the event at Widcombe Infant School, which was also attended by the Jo Jingles character Big Jo.

Organiser Sally Long said she had been pleased that so many people had been there to support the charity.

She said: "We all danced, sang, played instruments and had the Big Jo character there, which went down a storm.

"Everyone had a great, great time and it was one of the best things I have done for a long while. Everyone was really buzzing by the end of it.

"I personally like to support Children in Need because I do all these music classes for children, but not all kids get to come along."
