Design of new bus station proves puzzling

Thursday, July 02, 2009, 08:49

There are many comments on the new bus station, few of which are good, but can anyone explain why there are no clocks visible from the waiting area and why the illustration of the layout has been reversed?

This layout is repeated in the book which gives the bus times. When you face the departure gates you will find that the highest number is on your left and the lowest on your right.

If, however, you take a step backwards so that you are nearer to the glass wall by Railway Street you will see that there is a display board which, like the booklet, shows the lowest number on the left and the highest on your right. Admittedly the numbers are correct in their relationship to Railway Street, which is shown at the top of the plan, but the whole plan is not designed for quick and easy interpretation.
