Your letters in brief
This is a letter of thanks to a kind citizen of our fair city of Bath, for picking up a car key and handing it into the local police station.
The most annoying and dreadful feeling is losing something so small yet so important, for everyday function.
On August 13 I did the unthinkable and lost my car key, dropping it somewhere with out my knowledge.
A few days ago I finally checked with the police station – and found it had been handed in.
Many thanks to this kind citizen of Bath.
My faith in human kindness has been restored yet again.

I was so pleased to see the photograph of Alec Ricketts with the mayor in a recent edition of the Chronicle.
However, in the article beside the picture there was no mention that after Alec passed the scholarship exam he then attended the West Central School.
He became the chairman of the Old Centrialians. The school sadly was closed in 1942 but the building is now part of Culverhay School buildings.
I hope today's pupils have as happy a time in it as we did.

May I commend to your readers an excellent recent release from the European Coalition for Israel which explains the historical/political context for the current Middle East peace negotiations very clearly.
It is available by looking up the GivePeaceAChance.info website.
I feel there is a real lack of general awareness about the true historical/political facts regarding the current situation in the Middle East and I would be most grateful if you would consider printing this letter so that interested readers may research this for themselves.

Once again The Bathampton Morris Men are coming to the end of a successful dancing season.
Apart from our usual round of busking in the Bath and west Wiltshire area we have been to a festival near Bordeaux, France.
We have also enjoyed a tour along the Dorset coast, and more recently a trip to Malta.
Now we look forward to winter practice when we hope to learn new dances, improve our skills and most importantly, teach new members. So now is the time to start.
If you are young at heart and fancy giving it a try it would be great to hear from you. We meet at Winsley Church Hall, near Bradford on Avon, at 8pm.
Our first session will be on October 13. For more information you can contact me on 01373 461954. I will be pleased to talk to you.

I would like to thank the people of Bath for raising £100.14 during my street collection on Saturday, August 27, in aid of Compassion In World farming a charity helping to end the suffering of millions of factory-farmed animals worldwide.

I feel I have to write this letter because I am sick and tired of the louts outside the cheap booze shop at Southdown.
This is people in their 30s and 40s – not youngsters.
I do not begrudge any one having a drink but I do not want my tax money going on booze for people on benefits.
Now before the do gooders say they are underprivileged etc, etc I know all about being underprivileged having grown up in the 1930s/40s where my poor old mum worried about how to pay the rent and not have the family on the streets.
Now something must be done to stop benefits being spent on booze.
And this is from someone who likes a drink – but pays for it himself.
