Free parking in Batheaston, Chew Magna, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Peasedown St. John, Radstock, Saltford, Timsbury, and Wellow will be kept by Bath & North East Somerset Council following a refinement to the 2013/14 budget proposals after the recent Budget Fair consultations.

Councillor Roger Symonds (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet member for Transport, said, "We are a listening Council and the messages that the Cabinet heard about abolishing free parking in many car parks were very clear. Proposals for charging in Batheaston, Chew Magna, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Peasedown St. John, Radstock, Saltford, Timsbury, and Wellow will not form part of the Cabinet's budget recommendation to Council in February 2013."

Proposals to raise additional income through introducing parking charges, like at Royal Victoria Park, will remain. However, the Cabinet is reviewing the situation regarding some of the small neighbourhood car parks, like Larkhall.
