Former IT systems manager Ethan, who is confined to a wheelchair, also lost his sight on his 40th birthday.
The father of three now volunteers at Somer Valley FM, where he has his own show every Saturday.
Donna, who is his full-time carer, said: "I feel this is a small thing to face when my husband and others face bigger obstacles daily."
