A great way to recycle spectacles
The City of Bath Lions Club has served needy organisations and individuals in Bath for the last 49 years. This work takes many different forms and our relationship with Specsavers has enabled us to get closer to our Lions' roots.
Lions Clubs International was founded in the early part of the last century and in the early days were particularly concerned with helping people with sight problems. (The white stick, used by people with impaired vision, was developed and spread over north America by Lions clubs). Therefore it is good to report that in Bath, thanks to the management of Specsavers, we are able to continue the work of aiding people with sight problems in the third world.
Visitors to Specsavers Bath branch, will notice a Lions collecting bin for used spectacles. During the last year, thanks to the kindness of their customers and management, the Lions have collected and recycled over 3,000 pairs of glasses.
Once sorted, repaired and checked spectacles are sent to a great many third world countries. So thanks to the Specsavers customers for their contribution.
