A 19-year-old man was being treated for severe injuries today after being struck by a train at Bath Spa station. Firefighters from Bath helped paramedics get into the locked station at 3.50am after emergency services were told that a man was inside. When fire crews and paramedics reached the platform they found the teenager lying on the track with foot, shoulder and head injuries. The injured man, who is from Bath, was taken to the Royal United Hospital. Fire crews stayed behind at the station to search for a second man who had also been reported to have been in the area but did not find anyone. British Transport Police spokeswoman confirmed that the man was seriously injured when he was struck by the train at about 3am. The incident is not being treated as suspicious. The train was the 10pm Penzance to Paddington service. Rail services through Bath were disrupted for between two and three hours, with trains diverted around the city. Train services are now back to normal. British Transport Police were expected to reveal more details about the incident this morning.
