No more flood relief for us
On January 28 I received a letter from B&NES informing me that the council tax relief I, and presumably 25 other households in Chew Magna are receiving on our homes, which due to flooding we have had to leave, will cease as from April 1.
Does B&NES have any idea of the reaction and distress this letter has caused? I cannot believe that B&NES is so hard up that it cannot afford to help people in a real and tangible way during what is a most distressing time. And most of us by the way are still paying council tax at probably the same rate on our temporary accommodation. Do they expect us, or our insurance companies to pay it twice?
Can I therefore ask all readers to e-mail our ward councillor, Liz Richardson, asking her to speak to the council in getting this decision reversed for people affected by flooding and other disasters that have meant they have had to leave their homes and live in temporary accommodation? Her email address is liz_richardson@bathnes.gov.uk
