Four face charges over bank robberies
Three men and a woman have appeared in court charged in connection with a string of bank robberies, including an incident in Bath's Moorland Road earlier this year.
Leroy Hall, 35, from Streatham, in London; Leon McKenzie, 32, from Orpington, in Kent; Clifford Griffiths, 35, from Mitcham, in London, and Jacqueline Smith, 34, of Mitcham, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court sitting at Winchester Crown Court.
They are jointly charged with four counts of robbery and two of attempted robbery, including a robbery where a security van driver was targeted outside the Lloyds TSB bank in Moorland Road in January.
The incident made national headlines after 88-year-old retired policeman and Second World War veteran Gordon King, from Weston, tried to intervene with his walking stick.
