Call to keep dogs under control after fatal sheep attack
Dog walkers are being asked to be cautious after a rare breed sheep grazing in a nature reserve near Bath died following a savage attack.
Five Wiltshire horn sheep returned to Browns Folly, at Bathford, last week to graze for the winter.
However last Thursday, the conservation team from Avon Wildlife Trust was told that one of the animals had been injured in what is believed to be a dog attack.
The sheep suffered "horrific" facial injuries and has been put down by a vet.

Joe Middleton, reserve manager, said everyone in the team had been saddened by the incident and were now doing everything they could to protect the other sheep.
He said: "We are asking people whenever they are free or walking the site to keep an extra special look out over the other four sheep to make sure they are safe and well, and to talk to people about the importance of keeping dogs on leads.
"The police have been informed and are responding, but there were no witnesses and the owner of the dog did not report the incident, the sheep was left to die."
