“Obviously not. Web-based businesses tend to favour tasteful websites that load quickly, rather than a hopelessly confusing mashup of advertising, news content and advertising, more advertising, loads of adverts, advertising instead of links and so much embedded advertising that the page take ages to load.
I actually prefer the dead-tree version of the Chron these days. It doesn't force other people's products into my brain with quite the same ferocity.”

“I just want a site with NEWS which loads quickly without fuss, loads of unwanted advert pop-ups which seemed to appear if my mouse strays too far on the page.
New news, up-to-date news, easily-accessible news - NOT scrolling down page after page to find a topic buried under lots of non-stories and page-filling bumf.”

“The red and green arrows weren't on the forum part of the website before. Have to be honest this new revamp seems to be very pretty (if that's your taste) but not any improvement in terms of functionality not least because the old default of active topics at the top doesn't work anymore.”

“@Dave_Weston
Set it to sort by 'most recently active' and save the result as a bookmark / favourite. The following link should work: http://tinyurl.com/au7bl48”

“@VV, if we could have a proper user-oriented website like all the grown-up papers do, I reckon we'd have a lot more interesting ramblings. Some formatting would be nice maybe, or smileys. Or at least remove the automatic bloody quotes; I can punctuate myself thank you very much.
The absolute worst 'feature' is the rejection of hyperlinks in favour of ridiculous pop-up ads that have nothing whatsoever to do with content. Tim Berners-Lee would be spinning in his grave if he were dead. I bet he's spinning in his office as we speak.”

“Blow the fancy site, WHAT has this bunch done to the Announcements??? I could not access the obits yesterday OR today. I have contacted the relevant people but still no announcements are available - no problem with the Public Announcements but the others are just a blank screen. Someone from 'Iannounce' site stated that all problems had been addressed - does anyone in this outfit know how to run a website??”
“I'm dazzled by the brightness of the new format. Methinks there's something afoot here on the Bath Chronicle.
Are we heading towards a Web Site publication?”
