Avon Valley Classic Mini Club attended Bath Pageant of motoring on Sat and Sun at Bath racecourse, which was a brilliant event !
The club raises money for the Neuroblastoma Society which is a rare and aggressive childhood cancer by doing their own mini convoys and displaying collection pots at other shows. We lost my Granddaughter Amelia Rose Price ( who featured in the chronicle at the time) at the age of 4 in march 2007 to this terrible disease so the club has been set up in her memory as she loved classic Minis . http://tinyurl.com/7ekkkfu
The club has only been running for a couple of months, with a small budget, and at the end of the Bath pageant on Sunday afternoon the clubs 3 gazebos were stolen!
We had taken the gazebos down and put them in a neat pile along with the clubs tables and display items. Other clubs were still on site packing away their displays while our club left in the minis to go and get a van from Corston (4 miles away) to collect the larger items. When I returned 20 minutes later, the gazebos and all the sides, pegs and hammers had been taken from the pile.
We were there at a charity event and also raising money for our charity The Neuroblastoma Society too and to return to find that our donated gazebos and our club banner were missing was just an awful feeling, my heart sank. The show was to raise money for charities, not to steal from them !
