What is a crack house closure?
Although called a crack house closure, the legislation relates to any class A drug, such as heroin, cocaine, or crack.
If there is a property being used to supply, or use, class A drugs, and there is significant anti-social behaviour in and around that area, a court may grant the order which closes the place for three months.
That means closed to everyone, including the owner of the premises. It is a criminal offence to enter after an order has been made, and offenders will be arrested.
Police say people can start the ball rolling by contacting their housing provider, if it is rented accommodation, or by calling them on 101, calling the local anti-social behaviour team on 01225 842462, and beginning to record incidents times and dates, and car numbers.

Reporting such information to the police does not mean people are committed to go to court, or that details will be given out to anyone.
The police can meet people away from their home, and this will not necessarily be with an officer in uniform.
They will work with other agencies to consider whether a closure application is appropriate, or there may be other action that could be taken.
