First-class stamp honour for Jane Austen anniversary
Letter writers will be able to share a little bit of Austen thanks to a new collection of stamps.
Royal Mail has launched a set of six stamps to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's most famous and popular novel Pride and Prejudice.

The stamps will be available from today and depict scenes from all six of Austen's published novels. Sense and Sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice can be found on the first class stamps, and Northanger Abbey – which is set in Bath – and Persuasion are on the £1.28 stamps. During the year Royal Mail is releasing special stamp collections. In January it launched a collection to mark the 150th anniversary of the London Underground.
The stamps were launched locally at the Jane Austen Centre in Gay Street, which celebrates the author's links with the city.
