Former Writhlington pupil has the X Factor
A 21-year-old singer who grew up in Peasedown St John has made it through to the judges' houses round of TV talent show The X Factor.
Jahmene Douglas, who now lives in Swindon and works as a shelf stacker in Asda, is one of the early favourites to win the show after wowing audiences with his performances of At Last by Etta James and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by the Shirelles.
This weekend will see audiences watch him try to impress the boys' group judge Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger at a resort in Dubai.
Jahmene was first featured in the local press when he was 14 years old and was already showing the signs of becoming a successful singer.
