Wind turbines
If you live in Wiltshire a wind farm of giant industrial turbines over 400 feet high may well be proposed for a hill near you. Now Wiltshire Council planners want to control their siting, so that future wind farms would not be placed too close to homes. This is necessary because turbines are known to create various health and other problems, such as low-frequency noise, which penetrates walls and roofs, preventing sleep. Wiltshire Council is asking for the public's comments and I urge Bath Chronicle readers to support the council and make their views known to Spatial Planning, Economy and Regeneration, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, BA14 8JD, or email spacialplanningpolicy@wiltshire.gov.uk quoting 'Proposed Change No.180'.
Full details of the proposal can be found on the webpage Wiltshire Core Strategy Focussed Consultation.

“Crackin' idea, Moe. Having come across at least one tin-foil hatter on this forum since signing up recently I think we should promote this one heavily. And sit back and watch the fireworks. Quite exciting and most entertaining.”

“Why not combine wind turbines with mobile phone base stations? Then the low frequency noise and ultra-high frequency radiation will cancel each other out.
(Well, obviously it won't, but the tinfoil hat brigade will believe anything)”

“Long ago wind turbines moved from the annals of science and technology into those of political chicanery. They can do a job, but at the moment not very efficiently. They can be an eyesore but some people seem to like them. They can help in some aspects of the environmental issues (avoid fossil fuels), but nor others (they kill a small number of birds) etc etc. It would help if the arguments could be focussed on the facts and not informed by whether people read the Guardian or Daily Telegraph.”

“I am surprised that this Wiltshire Council consultation has been publicised with such a biased attitude towards wind turbines?
It is bad enough that the public could believe this nonsense without the press printing such a report.
Can i suggest readers go to the following website to get some facts before being misled by the report.

If you open your eyes you will see how many things are already powered in this way around the countryside from road signs to caravans, barges, houses and farm yards etc.”
