Win tickets for Gerry and Cavern club
Gerry and the Pacemakers, one of the biggest of the new wave Merseyside groups from the sixties, is coming to Bath next month.
Gerry and his band will be recreating a Night at the Cavern when they appear on November 13 along with Chip Hawkes, who was lead singer with the Tremeloes, and The Complete Beatles tribute band.
The evening will feature loads of the big hits from the sixties and seventies from the famous singles to the timeless albums tracks.
Gerry and The Pacemakers was the first band to have three consecutive No 1s in the UK charts with How Do You Do It?, I Like It and one of the greatest show-stopping songs ever, You'll Never Walk Alone.
Gerry went on to have numerous more hits through the sixties, and none more successful than the classic, Ferry Cross the Mersey, which was No 1 in two different decades.
Gerry and his band have toured America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Denmark during the past six months and have return bookings in these countries for next year, such is their ongoing success.
Chip Hawkes, formerly of the Tremeloes, had hits with Here Comes My Baby, Silence is Golden, Even the Bad Times are Good and many more.
The Complete Beatles are a brilliant sound and look-a-like Beatles tribute band. With the clever use of various costumes – from the early grey collarless suits, to the complementing Chesterfields and the Shea Stadium jackets – you could easily think you were back in the sixties at the famous Cavern club.
Kester Peters, a left-handed bass playing singer is Paul McCartney, Carl Windsor, a brilliant guitar player and vocalist is John Lennon, Ian Roome is on drums and a ringer for Ringo Starr while Stephen Hill on lead guitar and vocals is a good George Harrison look-alike.
Tickets are £16.50 from the box office on 01225 486902
Then on November 6 the Pavilion hosts a Roy Orbison tribute act.
Alan Morris never forgot the day he first saw Roy Orbison, dressed in black, holding an audience in the palm of his hand.
He says: "My parents took me to see him in Blackpool when I was a child – I never forgot the performance. Roy Orbison had a most incredible influence on my life. It was the songs, that incredible voice, the man himself."
It was an experience that has stayed with Alan, and ever since he has wanted to look and sound like The Big O.
In 2004 Alan put together the Blue Bayou show and it took off after its sell-out performance to rescue the dilapidated Hyde Theatre Royal in Greater Manchester from closure.
Virtually the whole of Alan Morris's immediate family are involved in promoting the show; his son plays keyboards while his wife and daughters manage the goings-on backstage.
Touring is nothing new to Alan Morris, He had travelled all over the UK and Europe with top sixties band The Casuals who had a top ten hit with Jesamine.
Tickets cost £14 from the box office on 01225 486902
