Recycled material will be used to make the paper hats and must cover the whole head in order to qualify for the event.
"Recycling is an important part of the College's commitment to sustainability and the environment and this event supports the key message of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle," Di Dale added.
The World Record Attempt is being supported by the Rugby Football Union and Caterbury, Official Kit Partner to England Rugby who has donated hundreds of paper scrum hats which will be worn by participants.
The current world record for people wearing hats stands at 972 in Japan which took place October, 14, 2012.
The record attempt will take place at 12:30pm across all Wiltshire College Campuses tomorrow (Thursday, 31, January 2013).
