Warning of 50mph winds and torrential rain on Sunday

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning across the West for Sunday.

Strong winds and up to 40mm of rain or even sleet are expected in Somerset, Bristol, Bath, and Dorset between 3am and 1pm.

Gusts will be in excess of 50mph in some places and there is a danger of isolated flooding, according the national weather service's "yellow" warning.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Heavy rain is expected to spread across parts of southern, central and eastern England through Sunday morning, clearing eastern parts by early afternoon.
