Voting Tory was bad for us and for the animals

I am writing to inform all of the people of B&NES how I feel about David Cameron becoming the Prime Minister.

I may only be 10 but I have full understanding of the General Election and the fact that Conservatives have won the overall election is not a good one for a lot of us – and not least the animals.

There is a campaign which has been in action over the past few months called "Save Me" founded by Brian May. Caroline Lucas of the Green Party endorses the campaign and Gordon Brown backs it.

You may have seen the posters, and they have told us that the Conservatives are planning to bring back hunting with dogs, fox and stag hunting, hare coursing and will kill thousands of badgers by culling.

I was not alive then, but doesn't anyone remember the Thatcher legacy? This is why there are not enough houses for us to live in. Would this not convince people not to vote for the Conservative party again? Their main hobby is rewarding the rich and punishing the poor – it is the recession. Everybody is short on money but now we will have even less.

I am also very concerned about my education. I am not fortunate enough to be able to afford a private education. Will Cameron's spending cuts affect my schooling and my future?

I am worried about the NHS too. Labour brought in the NHS but the Tories seem intent on cutting spending to these essential public services.

Anyone who watched Gordon Brown's resignation speech will agree with me that it was very emotional. He only did what was best to stop the hung parliament lasting any longer and we should be sad to see him go.

I hope that the public realise what the vote for the Conservatives – or indeed the Liberal Democrats will mean for this country.

    “Ummm, an intersting letter.
I wonder if i was to leave a pad and pen in my pet Harry the hamsters cage, by the morning a response to this may transpire in the same way.”

“Well said Cydney. I'm glad the animals have friends like you to speak up for them!”
