Village festival plans to give away more cash
A popular village festival which has achieved record success over the past four years has reopened a grant scheme to donate money back to the community – and will give away more than it ever has done before.
Peasedown St John's Party in the Park is held every summer on Beacon Field, and the fourth event this year raised several thousand pounds.
The majority of the money will help fund next year's event but the organisers have set aside £1,500 for the Party in the Park Grant Fund, to reinvest in the village in the form of small financial grants.
For the past three years the fund has stood at £500.

Party in the Park chairman, Nathan Hartley, said: "When the organisers first met to plan Party in the Park we decided that no matter how much money we raised we'd like to give some of it back to the community.
"Thanks to the success of this year's Jubilee Party in the Park we are pleased to announce that the Party in the Park Grant Fund will increase this year from £500 to £1,500.
This is our way of thanking residents for supporting this year's festival and making it such a special day."
To qualify for a grant, applicants must be part of an organisation based in the village.
It should be not-for-profit, a registered charitable trust, or seeking funding for one-off costs that cannot be met from existing finances.
The closing date for applications is November 23 and application forms can be downloaded from www.peasedownpartyinthepark.org.uk.
