Bestselling writer Val McDermid will be at Bath Central Library on Friday 21 September at a special event organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The author will be talking about her much-anticipated new thriller The Vanishing Point at the Council-run library at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).

Val McDermid's books have been translated into more than 30 languages, with over two million copies sold in the UK and 10 million worldwide.  Her 25th novel, The Retribution, hit the number one spot earlier this year and her latest, The Vanishing Point, is a stand-alone thriller.

Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: "Bath & North East Somerset Council is delighted to welcome such a popular and acclaimed author to Bath Central Library. Val McDermid's talk should offer some great insight into the art of writing thrillers – many of which can be picked up from your local library.
