Thai restaurant Koh Thai Tapas to open in Bath
A new style of Thai dining is heading for Bath this spring.
New restaurant chain Koh Thai Tapas will be opening its fourth venue next month.
The chain, which only launched in 2009 and already has restaurants in Boscombe, Bournemouth and Southsea, will be opening on Broad Street in the former La Tasca restaurant on March 7.
Koh group takes tapas, a style of eating usually associated with Spanish cuisine, and applies it to Thai food.

Managing director, Andrew Lennox, said: “We are delighted with our success to date, and we are now thrilled to be bringing Thai Tapas to the historical city of Bath. We firmly believe that Koh Thai Tapas is a style of cuisine that everyone will love and we are so pleased to have invested in our fourth restaurant in Bath.
“Which is a city that we have identified as being a perfect fit for us. We are committed to future expansion going forward and greater involvement within the communities in which we serve.”
The new restaurant will create approximately 20 new jobs for the city.

“So how many restaurants is too many? When half are empty I would suggest which is not currently the case. I for one welcome these new reataurants as I remember a time then it was either The Hole in the Wall, the Tratt` or the Wimpy.
Had a very nice meal at Chimichangas the other day, Giraffe is always good in the evenings and Cafe Martini was excellent again last week (especially the service) contrary to one comment on here. Combine that with cafes like Jikka Jikka and good old Schwartz takeaway and I think we are doing rather well.
Nothing wrong with chains if the quality is good and the price is right but if people want independents then as long as they are used they will remain.”

“If Wood's and Martini's is the benchmark of the independents we're supposed to be satisfied with, then bring on the chains!”

“@ tylerashton86
With 3, soon to be 4, chains it can hardly constitute being dubbed a big chain company can it? Bottelino's has/had more, is that a big bad chain?? Get off your soapbox.”

“People need to start using our local restaurants and businesses, not big chains like koh Thai! I eat out quite often with my wife and we get much better service from the independent restaurants than the big chains!”

“@PSJresident
Even with all the chains, we're still spoilt for independents like Woods and Martinis. Use them or lose them!
:)”

“Totally apologise for the million postings!! That's your opinion sunny_bath just like mine! What I will say though is that although there are loads there are also so many doubles, triples and so many "samey" places! Thank god we still have the likes of Woods and Martini's!! But I stick by my comment that its nice to see parts of Bath coming to life again! :)”

“If there were too many restaurants or cafés in Bath, they'd be empty and wouldn't able to be sustain their businesses. Judging by the difficulty I had in finding a table recently, I'd suggest that's not the case!”
