Pandvani group tell an epic tale from India to Bath pupils

Students at a Bath secondary school have been taking a break from exams with a visit from performance storytellers.

The specialist group Pandvani was at St Mark's School, in Larkhall, to tie in with an English lesson storytelling module.

Lead artist Ben Haggarty and his team took them through the story of Ramayana, a 3,000- year-old epic tale from India about Prince Rama and his wife Sita, who are exiled to a dark forest.

Head of English James Thomas said: "The students were enthralled, surprised and inspired by the performance.

The event was organised by newly-appointed school librarian Rhoda Martin, who has been working on improving the literary and creative writing opportunities.
