The BBC’s website confirmed that the Digital TV transmitter had been off from 5.13am this morning, and engineers worked to repair the problem for much of the day.

A BBC spokesperson said: “The TV transmitter at Bath developed a fault this morning which has affected services including BBC1, BBC2, CBBC, CBeebies and BBC News, as well as BBC radio channels on Freeview.
"Freeview HD channels and FM, AM and DAB radio services are not affected by the fault.”

“There have been reception issues for the Freeview HD Channels for over a Week, it is not the fault of the Mendip Broadcasters. The lack of reception of ITV Channels in the Bath area are mainly due to SOMER Housing Community Trusts inadequate TV Reception System”

“Thank goodness for my mini-wok discretely placed on the house... I really don't know what I would've done missing daytime TV and all. Sadly, I was at work to miss what everyone was missing!”
