Team Bath's Jess Hopton nets English National Badminton title
Team Bath's Jess Hopton was crowned as the new Under-17 English National Badminton Champion over the weekend.
She had to do it the hard way, beating second seed Tsui-Yee Lau and joint third seed Lydia Powell en route to the final.
Fifth-seed Hopton, who also represents Avon at badminton, then overcame Ira Banerjee 21-17, 14-21, 24-22 to take the title.
She just missed out on gold in the women’s doubles after partnering Powell to the final, where they lost out.
