Team Bath judo player Gregg Varey claims European Cup silver
Team Bath judo player Gregg Varey won silver at the European Cup in Finland.
The 24-year-old scored preliminary round wins over Holland’s Bas Koffijberg, Alexander Lundqvist of Sweden and Finland’s Eetu Laaksonen in the under-60kg class in Tampere.
University of Bath Sports Performance graduate Varey beat Dutch player Wessel van de Ploeg in the semi-final with an Ippon score.
In the final against Elnur Aliev it was the Estonian that took gold.
