TEAM BATH BUCCS The A team's Davis Wood Premiership title bid suffered a setback as they went down 1-0 at home to Cardiff University.

Cardiff scored the only goal from their first meaningful attack. A drag-flick from a penalty corner was travelling wide before the outstretched stick of Hooker deflected it past keeper Cattermole.

Buccs looked to make amends for their poorest display of the season when they emerged for the second half but, despite chances falling to Sobey and Mardell, they could not find an equaliser.

Matt Gallegos grabbed a first-half winner as Buccs Sabres B triumphed 1-0 at West Wilts.

Keeper Harry Wells made a superb double save to keep the hosts out before the break and, along with his defence, dispatched a string of short corners in the second period.

Admirals C returned home from their third and final trip to Exeter this season with a 5-1 victory over ECV Hornets B under their belts.

Sam Reeves hit two, while Mike Du Boulay, Rich Warwick and C team debutant Ollie Budd were also on the scoresheet.

Vikings E claimed a deserved point as they drew 2-2 with Old Bristolians A.

Calum Smith and James Fell found the net, the latter after good work from Will Peters, while George Simmonds did well at the back.

A gritty Ancient Mariners F side also shared four goals with Chippenham A as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches.

Chippenham went 2-0 up, opening the scoring through Cheshire's own goal, but Buccs fought back in the final ten minutes. Man of the match Rob Moore halved the arrears with a fantastic individual goal before Barron popped up with the equaliser.

Blades G climbed to second spot in East Central 2 with a 4-1 win over West Wilts D.

Harry Fuller's first-minute wonder-strike gave them a great start but young keeper Matt Herring denied the hosts an equaliser at the other end. Jamie Pirie struck either side of a Matt Garner goal to round off the win in the second half.

Buccs ladies 1sts were unable to build on their midweek derby win over Firebrands 2nds as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Clifton 2nds in their final league match before Christmas.

The hosts failed to convert their chances and fell behind to a soft goal on the stroke of half-time before Clifton doubled their advantage from a short corner.

Rebekah Walker and Elainne Vos were on target for Buccs in their 2-0 win at Firebrands.
