A cafe takeaway in Bath is encouraging customers to bring in their own lunch boxes as it seeks to slash packaging.

Retro-to-Go in Terrace Walk is taking its green credentials seriously, and wants to reduce the environmental impact of hot food packaging.

Customers who are members of its Eco Lunch Club can bring in their own lunch boxes and flasks to receive a discount on hot food and drinks.

Members are sent a weekly menu informing them of which hot food options are available for the coming week.

Mark Goldsmith, owner of Retro-to-Go, said: "It is almost impossible to find environmentally friendly disposable packaging for hot food and drink.

"This is a fantastic way to encourage customers to help us reduce the environmental impact of our take-away food."

As part of the scheme, Retro-to-Go is stocking thermal lunch boxes, which keep food warm for up to four hours.

Plans are in progress to expand the club to include other takeaway outlets in the city.
