TIM DAVENPORT: Millfield School partnership is benefiting Team Bath Buccaneers
Team Bath Buccaneers 1st XI player Tim Davenport is glad to get back to winning ways...
I wrote last week about the need for us to maintain our high standards for the season’s remaining two games.

While we are out of the title race, we want to finish as high as we possibly can and our performance against Whitchurch was probably one of the best of the season.
We played quick attacking hockey, dominated the game from start to finish and if we were being critical we would say we should have won by a much greater margin than the final 5-0 scoreline.

Although a home game, Saturday’s fixture was played at Millfield School and it was great to put on a display for all those who came out to watch.
The club has a link with the Somerset school which enables two of Millfield’s hockey coaches to play for us, as well as an opportunity for some of the pupils to train with our squad.
In addition, we agree to play one of our home fixtures at Millfield every season so that the school’s pupils can watch National League hockey on their doorstep.
The link works really well and we look forward to the relationship continuing in future years.
Our final game of the season sees us travel to the South Coast to take on Fareham next Sunday.
Like Whitchurch, Fareham are still in danger of finishing in ninth place, which would see them having to contest a relegation play-off.
I’m sure they will be hoping to avoid that and so we can expect a tough encounter to finish the season with.
In many ways it is great to be involved in a game that still has meaning on the last day and, while we’d rather be fighting to win the division, we’ll be doing all we can to make sure we finish on a high.
