Venues across the Bath area are being invited to support mothers by signing up to the Breastfeeding Welcome scheme.

The initiative aims to promote the benefits of breastfeeding, and highlight cafes, restaurants and bars welcoming breastfeeding on their premises.

B&NES has one of the highest rates for new mums still breastfeeding when their baby is six to eight weeks old – 61 per cent against a national average of 47 per cent.

The scheme has been launched by Sirona Care and Health, with coordinator Jo Webb reporting interest from venues from Avon Valley Country Park to the Velo Lounge in Oldfield Park.
