Superb Shrubsole helps England slay South Africa in Super Six
Anya Shrubsole claimed a fabulous five-wicket haul and career-best figures as England recorded an impressive defeat of South Africa to stay in the hunt for a place in the World Cup final.
The Bath bowler was in imperious form, removing all of the Proteas’ top five batters as England romped to a seven-wicket win in the Super Six stage.
With the defending champions needing victory in Cuttack to avoid being eliminated from the tournament, Shrubsole gave her side the perfect start by trapping Yolandi Potgieter and Mignon du Preez lbw in her first over.
The Somerset seamer then removed Cri-zelda Brits, Trisha Chetty and Marizanne Kapp in a brilliant spell to finish with figures of 5-17 - the sixth best by an England bowler.

South Africa eventually stumbled their way to 77 all out, with England reaching their target inside ten overs for the loss of just three wickets.
Charlotte Edwards’ side had looked in trouble themselves when they lost three wickets in six balls to slump to 26-3 but an unbroken 55-run stand between Lydia Greenway and Arran Brindle saw them home.
England round of the Super Six stage against New Zealand in Mumbai on Wednesday, a game they must win to stand any chance of reaching next Sunday’s final.
