OLD SULIANS Pulled themselves into the middle of the Somerset 1 table with three good wins over the Christmas period – a good return for a side that tends to favour harder, faster pitches. The only blot on their record was a heavy defeat to Bristol Barbarians.

STOTHERT AND PITT The October winners suffered just one reverse – at the hands of runaway Somerset Premier leaders Chew Valley – and picked up three wins, including an impressive 41-23 victory over second-placed Midsomer Norton.

WALCOT The Lansdown club have had an upturn in fortunes after finding the going tough in Southern Counties South this season. A side full of youngsters is beginning to find its feet and wins over Dorchester, Supermarine and Oakmeadians eased their relegation worries.

Every team that takes the monthly accolade during the 2012-13 season will be eligible for our new Team of the Year award. A superb prize package includes a Wadworth Brewery tour for the entire team, with beer to take home, an end-of- season pitch renovation package worth more than £1,000, courtesy of Greensward, and an executive box at one of Bath Rugby's pre-season friendlies.

To be in with a chance of winning the monthly prize, junior and senior clubs should submit match reports to sport@bathchron.co.uk by close of play on a Monday.

The Chronicle's local rugby coverage is sponsored by Greensward Sports Consultancy, a Bath-based company specialising in a high standard of construction and maintenance of schools and sportsground facilities.
