Stothert & Pitt made to battle for bonus-point win by Keynsham 2nds
A youthful Keynsham 2nds outfit made Stothert & Pitt battle all the way for another home bonus point as they recorded a 42-10 success last Saturday.
Rob Breckon gave the visitors an early lead with a penalty and, with Stotherts finding it difficult to break through in open play, they reverted to a pressure game. Josh Self scored their first try following a catch and drive from a lineout.
Lewis Whyte added a penalty before the Cranes scored two more tries through the forwards, courtesy of Liam Rotherham, for an 18-3 interval advantage.
The second period proved more open game and Stotherts increased their lead when Whyte spotted space behind Keynsham’s defence to touch down his own clever chip through.

Stotherts’ forwards were beginning to pressure Keynsham’s set piece and, as gaps started to open, further tries arrived from Dan Burcombe and Tom Clarke. Whyte added a conversion before Keynsham deservedly hit back with a try from Breckon that was converted by Gareth Deere.
Stotherts finished strongly, though, and had the last word with a try from Dave Peacock which Whyte converted.
The 2nds were beaten 26-12 in an entertaining friendly contest with their Barton Hill counterparts.
Stotherts points came from tries by Dan Bamber and Dan Lewis and a Barry Byrne conversion.
