The Percy Community Centre Youth Project has just finished its second five-a-side league competition for young people.

Seven teams from Bath took part, with All Stars A – representing Southside Youth Club – eventually taking the title ahead of Team Ask of Bath Youth For Christ.

Project leader Gavin Steer said: "The football competition provides an opportunity for young people from different areas of Bath to participate and engage in a positive activity, reducing the risk of them being drawn into anti- social behaviour.

"The young people have used the competition as a platform to express themselves in a positive manner while developing key skills such as communication, leadership and team work

The youth project, funded by B&NES council and Crime Beat, educates young people in the importance of exercise and the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle.

Preparations are now underway to organise the next competition and the project is hopeful that local businesses may want to provide sponsorship so new equipment.

Prospective backers and any new teams wishing to take part should contact the youth project at Percy Community Centre on 01225 423014.
