Stagg sisters finish level
ORIENTEERING Six Bath youngsters started the new Avon Schools Orienteering League season in style with victory in the year's first event at Blaise Castle, Bristol.
Kingswood Year 9 pupil Eddie Narbett was first home over the 2.45km course, having competed at Sutton Park, Birmingham, earlier in the day. He clocked 16mins 49secs to win by five minutes, with his team totalling 433 points for third place behind Gordano and Redland High.
Norton Hill Year 8 pupil Zac Hudd continued his winning ways with a 30:23 clocking for 2.9km, beating allcomers on the Year 10 boys' course by over 15 minutes.
Year 7 team-mate Christopher Green won on the 2.5km Year 8 course in 24:22, nearly ten minutes clear, to ensure their school took 200 points for equal fifth place.

In the primary league, Kingswood's James Button covered the 1.4km Year 6 course in 12:44 to contribute 100 points towards a total of 360 for his third-placed school.
Kingswood were beaten by Weston All Saints Primary, who racked up 390.
This was achieved by an extraordinary dead heat by the Stagg sisters in Year 4, who achieved 100 points each on the same Year 5 girls' 1.4km course.
Bryony Stagg started her race exactly five minutes ahead of her sister, Edith, and was in the lead by more than six minutes after 11 of the 13 control points.
However, some unreliable navigation in the closing stages saw Edith catch up and they both finished in 23:31, despite never seeing each other during the race.
The opening event attracted 200 orienteers and the next takes place at Ashton Court, Bristol, from 10.30am on Saturday, October 6.
