A man who hit a drunken St Patrick’s Day reveller in the neck with a bottle has been jailed for two years.

Ricky Burke admitted wounding Morgan Griffin in a fight in a street in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, earlier this year. Mr Griffin, a 54-year-old, had been out all night celebrating St Patrick’s Day and was making his way home wearing a comedy Guinness hat, which Burke, 28, and a friend ridiculed, Swindon crown court heard.

Mr Griffin swore and Burke, of Belmont Road, Bristol, turned around and threw a blow while holding a bottle.
