Special Olympics to be held in Bath next year
A launch event was taking place in Bath today to announce that the city is to host next year’s Special Olympics National Summer Games.
The event at the Guildhall will reveal that more than 1,700 athletes will take part in 12 sports at the games next August.
The sports village at the University of Bath, which has been used as a base for a number of countries competing at London 2012, will host the majority of the disciplines in the extravaganza for people with learning difficulties.
It will be a showpiece event to highlight the achievements of some of the 1.2 million people in the UK who have an intellectual disability.
