Somerset Rebels gear up for double-header showdown against Newcastle Diamonds
Cases Somerset Rebels will meet Newcastle Diamonds in a double-header showdown at the Oaktree Arena on Friday night.
Speedway fans are being promised a bumper evening of action, with two back-to-back meetings between the two sides at the Highbridge circuit.
The Diamonds last night selected the Rebels along with Leicester Lions in their end-of-season Premier League play-off group.
With the two sides also due to meet in the League Cup semi-finals - last Wednesday's first leg at the Oaktree was rained off after five heats - it has been agreed to stage both matches this Friday night.

The first match, which will be the play-off encounter, will start at 7pm.
After a short break following the conclusion of that match, the two sides will meet again in the rescheduled League Cup semi-final first leg.
"Whilst normally we would try to avoid double-headers, with Newcastle picking us in their play-off group as well as having to return for the restaging of the League Cup semi-final, then in this instance it made sense to utilise that option,” said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock.
“With the Diamonds scheduled to return here on Friday for that League Cup semi, then it did seem pointless to have them here one Friday only to have them having to travel back down a week or two later for the play-off match.
“We have tried to set the admission prices as fairly as possible, so that by using the re-admission and discount vouchers given out last Wednesday, the adult price of entry will be the same as a standard Friday night, and for those that were not here last Wednesday, they will still be receiving a discount on what would have been the normal price for two matches.”
Full admission prices will be £23 for adults, £20 for concessions and £1 for under-16s.
Rain-off readmission tickets and the £2 discount vouchers given out at last Wednesday’s match will both be valid for Friday’s double-header which, if both used, will reduce the price to £14 for adults, or £12.50 for concessions. Under-16 tickets remain at £1.
Season tickets are valid on the night, and the £2 discount voucher is only valid for Friday night's meeting.
Somerset and Newcastle will then do battle in another double-header in the North East on Sunday, September 30, with a 5pm start time.
After that, Leicester will visit the Oaktree Arena on Friday, October 5, for the play-off match.
The date of the away match at Leicester is yet to be confirmed.
