Signalling problems are causing problems on the rail network around Bath this morning.

First Great Western said the problem was near Swindon, meaning no trains are currently calling at the town's station.

It said: "We are currently unable to operate services in the Swindon area due to a major signalling failure.

"This problem is affecting all routes through Swindon. Services between South Wales and London Paddington in both directions will be either diverted via an alternative route with increased journey times, or cancelled.

"Services between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington in both directions will also be either diverted via an alternative route with increased journey times, or cancelled.

"Services between Cheltenham Spa and Swindon will also be cancelled.

    “A tweet this AM from Network Rail "Swindon - Signalling was fully restored at 09:30", so she'll be on her way soon !

    Problem was caused by a failure at Swindon in the Uninterruptable (sic !!) Power Supply to part of the signalling control centre there.”
